TRAP

What motivates you to get up in the morning? What makes you feel alive? And what are the traps you fall into that distract you from doing what you love? Rhea is a young musician who is about to leave school. Mr H is Rhea’s exhausted teacher. Elsbeth is Mr H’s mother and has dementia. Each character confronts the choices they make about their personal inner drive - or so called ikigai. Trap is performed in English with German subtitles.

Each actor is accompanied on stage by a dancing-double. The dancer physicalises the joyful emotions of their character as well as their self-doubt and need for affirmation.

TRAP poetically combines dance, theatre and trap hip hop music to speak to 14+ year olds as they make choices about studying/working whilst trying to not lose sight of what really motivates them. It is also relevant for anyone who sometimes wonders why they get up in the morning.

TRAP is a coproduction of tanzHaus Bern. It will be performed on 8./9./10. May 2026: https://tanzhausbern.ch/on-stage/
